Does this do anything besides hold the wire?

Post by Canonman67 »

I'm starting to assemble the truck and was pulling the rear harness out before I put the gas tank on the frame. When I unclipped the harness I found this yellow thing on the harness. Image

The two purple wires go to the brake sensing unit on the distribution block. Is there a diode or something in there? Or is it just some kind of fancy wire clip? I can't see a way to gently pry it open and don't want to ruin something it will cost a fortune to replace so I thought I'd ask here.

Thanks in advance,
Lionel

That thing in the middle is actually a splice connector. It joins the left side to the right side and splices in that brake warning light harness. That clip is to hold the connector in place on the distribution block for the brake warning light sensor. It slides down over the connector and clips to the body of the sensor in the distribution block.

So I can just clip the pigtail and splice it into the new harness and all will be well?

Thank you. For some reason that yellow thing freaked me out for a bit.
