Hello!
I have a 1970 F100 with a 429 Swap. The previous owner did a bunch of wiring that didn't make sense, or look right. So I tried to clean it all up, and I've ran into issues.
Before I started the project the truck ran fine, now it'll just crank.
The Dash is showing 7 volts, even though I know I have two good batteries. I disconnected the alternator (Green and Yellow Wire) and it went up to 8.6 volts.
I'm really worried that something may have fried.
When I first applied power there was no power, no lights, nothing. Then.. there was smoke, so I shut it off. After inspecting it, I noticed the the previous owner has put three wires to a weird floating ground, so I put them to actual ground. which I believe cause the smoke. The pink/red wire going to the ignition switch was red hot. After I fixed this, and wired these together (Two were yellow from the blade relay right next to the Starter Solenoid, and one came up from the alternator) I would at least get dash lights and the truck would crank.
The truck has a digital Dash, MSD Ignition Box, and MSD distributer.
Please Help!!!: Fire, no crank! Now Dash showing 7volts.. FIREEEEE
