Cruise Control

Post by Big Blue 72 »

If I wanted to install Cruise Control on my 72 what are my options?

I've seen steering wheel cruise controls on later model trucks. Could it be as simple as tracking down a later model steering column that has the controls and associated hardware on it or are there a lot of aftermarket cruise controls out there?

It's not impairitive to have, but I make repeated trips to Wyoming and I've been spoiled by modern technology and it's nice to take your foot off the gas every once in a while. :drive:

stationary pedal next to the gas pedal. or there might be some aftermarket stuff out there that is a generic kit maybe. or possibly taking a setup off a dentside and adapting it to a bump,

I'm considering a Rostra 250-1223 universal kit. It's really basic and requires you to pick a controller at extra cost. For my application, manual trans safety, turn signal lever style controller it runs about $250. If you're still using a cable operated speedo you'll need another adapter though I don't know what that cost. There's also an Audiovox remake for about the same price. Here's a link for the Audiovox http://www.murphskits.com/product_info. ... cts_id=422 And one for the Rostra http://www.rostra.com/universal-afterma ... rostra.php Let us know how you make out. Unfortunately I'm still working on getting the engine built and back in the truck so I can only share what I've found and not actual experience.
