Post by SoCalRefuge »

The item between the battery and the starter solenoid, pictured below is on my 1967 F250 2wd. it appears to be factory original but I dont see it in the wiring diagrams...any insight would be appreciated.

Horn relay

... honk the horn. Unplug the plug. Attempt to honk the horn again.

Ta-dah. :hd:

Thanks a lot. This is perfect timing as my next project is to rebuild the horn swich in the steering wheel. The truck has been in the family since I was born and I have never heard the horn.

If you need more location pictures let me know.

Huh....I think I don't have that on my 67...and that's probably why my horn has never worked! Thanks for posting that, I'll check that out. I tried years ago to get the horn working at the steering column, but I'm not sure I even have a relay at the moment.

Replacements are easily available at the auto parts store. You might want to cinch down that solenoid cable while you're under there. That's a fire waiting to happen. :)

I had to go back and look at the picture to see what you were referring to regarding a fire hazard. Thanks for the call on that. It was tightened down when I had everything hooked up.

I ordered a replacement today. Seems there are two versions. The only difference is one uses 2 bolts to hold it on, the other uses 1 bolt (like in the picture). The 1 bolt version was $5US cheaper.
