Has anyone tried using aerosol paint stripper on engine wiring harness wires?
There is some old engine paint on my oil pressure sending unit wire and coil wire and brake cleaner won't remove it.

I've used lacquer thinner and a rag, plenty of rubbing. When done, use some 409 or similar cleaner and they will come out great!

Lacquer thinner will work but it's a really strong solvent and can damage the insulation.
I suggest heading to HD, Lowe's, or Walmart to get some graffiti remover.

I got impatient Monday and tried the spray on paint stripper. I only left it on for about 15 seconds until it started to blister and then I wiped and rinsed it thoroughly. It seemed OK, time will tell if the insulation cracks later. I'll try to post an update in several months.
