tried searching but can't find the wire diagram for a 1969. I know I've read it before here. I'm installing the frrp control pack for a 5.0 4v the coyote and I need a single 12 volt source for both the start and run. Maybe I just searching tooo late at night .
found wire diagram http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... rging2.jpg
still not sure if coil wire is hot in start and run, What about balist resistor?
need to know what wire is hot on both start and run

Re: need to know what wire is hot on both start and run
Coil pin on the ignition switch is hot in start and run. The ballast resistor is an extra thick section of wire installed inline before the three wire plug that connects to the engine harness. You can add some extra wire and splice in near the ignition switch. Connect a couple of inches lead to the coil pin on the switch then splice in the original coil wire and the lead from the control pack. I'm not sure if you will still need the coil wire because the new motor should utilize a different style of ignition. If you don't need to keep the original coil wire, you can just connect your wire from the control pack to the coil pin on the switch and leave the original coil wire disconnected.
I looked up the installation instructions for your control pack. It says that the 12v source needs to be reliable, or it will think that it needs to shut off the motor. I would hook a volt meter to the new lead and verify that it doesn't fluctuate much when you turn the switch from run to start and back.

Prerunner - That control pack deserves a reliable source. Run a new line from the battery to a relay near the pack. Then use pin C on the ignition switch (BK/GN wire on a '69) to activate the relay (pin 86). The relay only needs milliamps on 86 to throw your clean new power from 30 to 87. (GND is pin 85) That way your old wiring and switch isn't being asked to carry any more load, and everything is safe and protected. Oh - and fuse the new power run at the battery with a fuse sized per the control pack install specs.
Hope that helps! Do you have a build thread?? I gotta see that coyote in there!!

Thanks guys this helps. coyote not in yet. I need to get everything all set so I don't use up my warranty sitting on floor. Control pack should be here Thursday. Relay might be a good Idea but for first start I might just go with off the switch one less thing to trouble shoot. I think a new wire harness might not be too far off in the truck's future, get away from old glass fuses and such.

Re: need to know what wire is hot on both start and run
wow how crazy is this I'm finally up to this point running wires to control pack. I knew I asked this a long time ago. I'm not sure if the coil wire is hot during starting so I may have to wire as Tyler suggested. From what I've read the coil gets the power from the brown wire off the I terminal during start so you get the full 12 volts.
Control box has relays and its own 12 volt input in it so I just need a wire that is hot in start and run is that the black with the green stripe?

Anyone know what the red wire with the yellow stripe that comes off the same spot as the pink coil wire is for? I can't find it on any diagram.
