Need Help with 69 F250 Ignition Switch wiring

Post by pc120ace »

I'm Currently working on a friends 1969 F-250 that needed a new ignition switch installed. I wired the switch and tried to start it but all i get is a knock from the starter solenoid..

If your getting a "clunk" from the solenoid then it is at least mechanically working. This doesn't guarantee that it is completing the circuit electrically. See if you have voltage on the starter side of the solenoid when in operation.

One footnote: make sure the "clunk" you're hearing is not the cutout relay in the voltage regulator. This turns on when you turn the key to the "on" position.
