I was able to bend the ears back into shape in my dash and re-install a factory AM radio. It has a long, yellow fused lead with a plug. Since my harness was twice hacked for aftermarket stereos, I am not sure where power is supposed to be picked up.
There is a large ( looks to be #12 ) yellow wire that a previous owner soldered on to for the cassette player. Is this my source? I have not been able to find anything in the wiring diagrams. Thanks!

Re: Stock Radio Power Source
This is a '72 wiring diagram but looks like the power source from the radio comes from the instrument cluster to a 3 prong connector. D-26 and D-27. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... ing_03.jpg The connectors should be C-28 from the instrument cluster to C-29 for the radio. http://www.fordification.com/tech/wirin ... legend.jpg Orange and purple wires. The orange probably is the radio source. Could be different colors for a '70. If it's hot with the ignition switch in the on position, use it.

Re: Stock Radio Power Source
I will check that out. The yellow #12 seems to be for the dome light and cigar lighter.

Re: Stock Radio Power Source
Thank you Fordman! I have set aside Thursday afternoon to trace this out, and begin the wiring fix.
I have one more question - my cigar lighter was also replaced, or so it seems, as some of the bizarre splicing that I found was T-tapped at the lighter connection.
My original lighter element is long gone. Is there a part number or generic use of the lighter well? I have found several lighter wells without the element on eBay as well as several lighter elements without the well, and many of the wells are listed for Falcons and Fairlanes, etc., but I am not sure if the connections and/or depths are the same. Any clue?

Re: Stock Radio Power Source
I saw that one. I haven't been terribly impressed with some of the parts that they have sent me - it seems like more stuff is being manufactured in China.
It seems that Casco was the manufacturer of these parts, or did Casco just reproduce them? I did find some original wiring that was disconnected and hidden underneath the dash, so I might not be too far from figuring this out . . .

Re: Stock Radio Power Source
Update:
I found the three prong connector, tested it and plugged in my stereo lead. My stereo now lights up! Now I have to install the antenna and replace the blown out speaker . . .
I do have one more question about the cigar lighter - it looks like I have the correct, "bullet," receptacle right there, although it is blue, rather than blue with a white stripe. Am I correct that there is another wire that plugs into the female, "bullet," and 90s into the back of the cigar lighter?
