gauge panel lights out but turn signal flashes working...

Post by hedz »

i can wire stuff under the hood no problem. when it comes to stuff inside the cab i'm in trouble.

where should i start? bulbs look good. maybe the green electrical mat thing that lies behind the gauges is bad?

i guess i should check current on all the little copper tabs on the gauge cluster plug that plugs into the back of the gauge panel...

all the gauges are still working

Cluster lights are powered by the blue wire with red stripe. That wire comes from the inst cluster bulbs to the fuse box. From the fuse box to the headlight switch. Inside the headlight switch. Where it draws power from. I woul check fuse coming and going from it. Then power on wire at inst cluster. Then check the circutboard
After all tjat what ive usually seen is that the contacts of the bulb holders can get dirty or bent. I would check the bulbs even though they may loik good.

it's the circuit board. i checked the current coming through that wire on the plug and it's fine. i noticed when i bent the circuit board towards the plug that the gauges on the left side lit back up. unfortunately even if i were to put something behind the circuit board to bend it towards the plug the right side still won't light up. in search of a replacement circuit board. thanks fordman.

wish i had all my gauges for my f600 cluster cause i would just swap that bad boy in there

just bought a whole used gauge cluster with the circuit board and everything for $75 with shipping. i checked prs on the printed circuit board and it's $100 from npd. i save 25 and get more parts. my 2nd speedometer is on it's way out anyway.

i rebuilt my gauge cluster. popped another circuit board in there that supposedly works. i install everything and flip on my gauge lights. nothing. i got ticked off and ran a jumper wire from the blue with red stripe to the fuse box. then another jumper wire from the fuse box to the blue wire with red stripe right at the head light switch. still nothing. the only thing that lights up is the left blinker. is my head light switch faulty? the guy that mailed me this gauge cluster told me that everything in it works.

i see that there are two blue wires with red stripes coming out of the same port on the gauge cluster pig tail so i guess i'm going to swap it to the wire next to it.

any suggestions?

i even changed the bulb housing thingies to some different ones.

i pulled the pin out of the pig tail. rebent and cleaned it. it's sending 12v just fine now. then i pulled all the bulb holders out. rebent the pins on those. cleaned them. suddenly i have left and right turn signal and 1 bulb on the right side working. i had done the bulb housing thing on the previous circuit board but i dont know what the crap...

maybe i'm dealing with different issues or the same issue before and after the rebuild. i'm going to keep fiddling with these bulb holders and i left the jumper wire from the headlight switch to the fuse box there. took the other one out.

got some electrical cleaner and i'm going to clean the places on the circuit board where the bulbs go...
