truck has no power

My buddy has a 1967 F100 that ran and when he put in garage for a few months wouldn't start up. He tried to jump it and got a few "clicks" then nothing. After looking around we noticed that nothing had power. I checked the ignition switch and found a pole was busted off and there was no continuity between certain pulls so replaced it. Only power that seemed to work was the gas gauge now. Next changed the relay and chased wires. Found wires going to coil to be iffy, so I disconnected it and when I did I found the relay would kick over but when I reconnected the coil nothing. I was thinking it might be the resistor tore wire or a bad coil. I have heard that you can get a 12v coil and bypass the resistor all together? Any ideas?

Check ground wire.

Dirty connections after sitting for a time. Points use a resistor wire to tobe down the 12 volts to coil. Putting 12 volts to coil will burn up points and not let it run. U can upgrade from points to get to a 12 volt setup. But never paint a truck that only has a flat tire.
Get the engine to crank first.
Use volt meter to see if power coming and going ignition switch.

Do you have a suggestion on which ground wire? Seems like I have a good ground ever where but haven't checked continuity on them.

I was looking at installing a flame thrower system in and was hoping it would bypass the resistor wire, I am thinking it might part of the problem.

I have power going to ignition switch and going back out. Just not sure if its fully getting where it needs to. When I checked power to the coil it dropped down to 10v but wasn't solid so I checked the connections and the power lost was at the connection after the resistor wire.

Battery cable grounds to engine. Rear of engine grounds to firewall. Frame grounds to drivers bumper lower valance. Others are inside cab. But i cant think of them also check rust behind starter relay on fenderwell behind the battery.

10 volts is about right. Maybe the connection is just loose. Maybe you can tighten it up in your perfered manner.

I never try an upgrade until i know or fix the problem. It can confuse things.

Well I made some progress. After replacing and cleaning just about every ground I could find and moving the battery ground from the front of the engine to the top behind the crab. I was able to bypass the relay and get the motor to turn over. Now I am not getting the 9v to the coil like I was before, guessing I burned the wire and need to replace it. Anyone now if I can just put an inline fuse or what size/type of resistor wire is supposed to go there?

I read that our trucks use 9.5 volts to the coil. The pink wire (resistor wire) is a guage that can and will burn up. I dont know which guage wire it is. But if you bought a block resistor to 9.5 that sould be right. If thats what i read.
