Keep blowing condensers???
360 stock.. Ran rough a few months ago then wouldn't run again, had a mechanic check it out, shotty condenser though practically brand new. Installed a new one and has run great now we're back to the same situation (rough idle, misfire and choking) which I am assuming is another blown condenser. I am going to replace it but why would are they blowing? Plan to go pointless eventually but is there anything I should be checking? Thanks

Count be too much voltage or your just really unlucky. Stock coil with current limit resistor wire?

A stock coil, not the stock coil, marked so probably pulled from the junkyard by the last owner.

a condenser will blow prematurely if you have 12v goings to a non-resisted coil. something to check. however I have had three to four condensers fail after as much as 1500 miles. Im chalking it up to being made by a red country. I stole a nasty old one from a junkyard truck been running grear ever since. find a NOS one or one older than 20 yrs and your good to go.

Re: Keep blowing condensers???
Thanks for the advice! Makes a lot of sense. I will hunt around the yards and see if I can snatch one. Seems like most the ignition parts are pulled before I've gotten to them. Going to start bugging them more often. Ide rather stay with points because I would love to do an original restoration eventually.
