Mini-Starter Suggestions?
It seems my starter has died, probably due to heat soak from my headers. Anyways, I've seen a lot on these forums about the benefits of installing a high-torque mini-starter. I took a quick look on Summit Racing and found several, but does anyone have any they would recommend?

Re: Mini-Starter Suggestions?
I put a RobbMC mini starter on my 68, 390. No problems and I love it.
It gives some extra clearance for headers.

I used something like this one from Summit:

Mine was about $300 as I recall. Works like a charm on my 390 with headers.

Re: Mini-Starter Suggestions?
Good day KStew67F100, John and TSherry,
KStew67F100, I have a RobbMc starter in my truck like John. It was a beautiful part, installation was easy, and I've been running it for years with zero problems.
Robb himself's an FE enthusiast and a super nice guy. I e-mailed him back in 2008 to ask some questions about his starter, and I was amazed by his prompt, warm and detailed reply.
Here are some photos of the RobbMc. You can click on the first two for larger versions.

Re: Mini-Starter Suggestions?
Thanks for the input tsherry and robroy!
I just noticed this after looking at the pictures above, but it seems the starter solenoid comes with the mini-starters. I already have the starter solenoid mounted on the fender-wall and would not want to re-run the wiring. Do all mini-starters come with a solenoid built in? Am I missing something here?

Re: Mini-Starter Suggestions?
I kept the factory solenoid mounted on the inner fender, yet changed which post one or two of the cables were attached to.
It's been a while so I forget the details; I could dig for more information if you'd like.

robroy,
Don't go through too much trouble, but it would be helpful.

Robroy is always willing to help out. He is the reason I have the same type starter that he does. He is a straight shooterKStew67F100 wrote:robroy,
