Ignition switch / Key match

Post by Camper Special »

Hello all-

has anyone bought the ignition switch and new key-way from either LMC or Dennis Carpenter?
it appears there is a different key way for '73-'78 vs. 67-72?
anyone else run into this? really frustrating :x
I do know the switch is different, changed mid-year 1970 models (round pin vs. flat pin)

I bought mine at the local parts store. Worked fine. But to answer question, yes, dents are different than bumps.

sargentrs- did you use a reproduction ford part or just a generic ignition?

my problem is the key cylinder doesn't seem to seat properly in the switch component... it looks like it should but I can't seem to get it locked in, and I don't want to break it
wondering if I am just not understanding how it seats or if the part is wrong..? :?

Dennis carpenter listing on the website is contradictory on the fit...
shown as this:
"Ignition Cylinder 1969 - 78 # C9AZ-11582-A"

but when you click further narrative says it fits 73-78, so what happened to 67-72? :hmm:

Reproduction. It was either a Standard Motor Products or BWD equivalent. Didn't have any problem. Clicked right in. Btw, I bought the switch and key cylinder together.
