1972 F250 Temp Gauge Troubleshooting

Hey guys so im hoping to get some help with the temp gauge on my truck, it doesnt read at all. I grounded the wire leading to the sender and the gauge went all the way to Hot so i know the gauge works. So im thinking a new sender and thermostat? Engine was not worked on since i started on it like two months ago, so think it wouldnt hurt to replace those either way, but i dont know if itll actually fix the problem.
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated! THANKS!

If the gauge is moving when grounded, then is appears that you just need a new temp sending unit. Just replace that and put the wire on the new one, and you should be good to go.
