Dakota Digital

Post by 460 crew »

Has anyone purchased and installed a set of the Dakota Digital VHX gauges?

I'm taking a good look at them and thinking this is where I'm headed. Any input good or bad would be great.

I was VERY close to purchasing those and was going to sell my F600 dash that I put together. But with the amount of work I put into my F600 dash, I decided against it. Those are some nice gauges though. I really love them behind the dash with the center FORD cross bar.

I was gonna go the f600 route also but after adding things up I think this setup will better suit me in the end with the availability to expand the amount of gauges later on. I already have a pair of isspro gauges for boost and pyrometer and not having a lot of luck finding all the others I would want to fill a cluster in the end all matching. Totally digging that they are needles instead of the digital numbers to keep the older look in the truck. I plan on calling in the am with a few questions to finalize my decision.

As a side note I decided on Centech for my new harness and have to finalize some things with them. How is your wiring going on the crew?

I ended up not using the new wiring harness I bought from EZ wiring and used my uncut 72 harness for the main wiring and supplemented it with 12 more circuits I wired in using a second fuse box and relays. I updated it all in my build thread and it worked out awesome. The truck hit the street today and is moving under its own power for the first time in over 2 years.

Awesome! Congrats, I'll have check in on your thread.
I got mine driving a few weeks back but nowhere close to street legal so I only terrorized the surrounding neighborhoods and made one trip over to my buddy's diesel rat rod shop. Had my fingers and toes crossed the whole way!

I have had good experience with Dakota! There tech support is great but the manual they provide is good enough where if you know how to read you won't have to call unless something truly abnormal has risen. I haven't done a full install on one of the but I have programmed them, finished installing them (plug and play) and troubleshooted issues with them ( all ways has been do to user/install error). 100% I'm getting one for my truck
