Column swap wiring info

Post by Chuck2422 »

I have a 69 bump manual that I installed a 76 front suspension and power steering into. My problem is the 76 column to 69 column wiring. I don't know where to start. Can someone provide me a simple diagram of what wires are for what on either harness? The diagrams I have seen are confusing. I have redone the wiring to my rear lights before following wiring diagrams but this has me confused. Please help! My truck has been down for months and I am dying to get it back on the road.

Welcome to hot rodding. Start learning and understanding what you are attempting to do. That's the only way you'll learn. Us telling you what to do would be lengthy. Do you really expect us to do that? C'mon, man up and get real!

Here are the resources. Start studying!

C'mon man....I am color blind and on occasion I have trouble seeing the colors correctly. So a picture of a plug that someone has added labels to would be great. I have seen them on here before. I just didn't think I would have to explain my issue for needing this. Thanks for being rude. As I said in my post I have re wired the rear wiring, sure it took a while but I was able to get it done. I didn't ask someone to do it for me.

HIO is pretty much that way to a lot of people, both here and on the 'other site.'

Thanks flyboy. I did finally get a better or simpler diagram. I am almost done with it. A light blue yello wire is confusing me on the 69 column plug. It goes to the turn signal on the side. It might be the horn though.

Whatever...I do that to push guys into using the tool btwn their ears. "I'm confused" is not an acceptable excuse. The internet is making people "less able" because of enablers who provide the direct answers. Granted a direct answer is sometimes required but more often than not people expect to have the answer pop up as if this was Google.

Did you even look at the link to the 79 pin out illustration?

Yes, I have all of those diagrams. I was able to get a friendly resource to show me a diagram that had the wiring different than the ones on this site. It was exactly like my plug. Once I got those diagrams everything made sense. I will be testing my success tomorrow. I noticed the battery is dead.
