I know alot of people have had luck with the Scotchbrite type pads that go on a drill for cleaning machined surfaces. A completely clean surface is essential.

The best thing I've ever used for cleaning engine gasket surfaces are the 3M Roloc bristle discs. Different color discs have different "abrasiveness". I prefer the green ones.

well, as far as fan switches go I bought the painless one out of the Jegs catalogue, it consists of a sending unit thermal switch, a relay and the wiring. I use it in conjunction with a mark viii fan and they offer two temp settings. I have not had the need to install a manual override switch in the dash, it comes on like clockwork at 185 degrees. I'm happy with it .

Well spring and summer hit and I'm finding many things to fill up my spare time with. My bump isn't one of em. So the engine is still head-less but I've got a few things here and there done. Like rear tail lights working on the "new" bed. A new brake light switch. And this:

A shiny new brake booster. I'm just test fitting it in this pic. But it's gonna stop way better then my old remand one.
But yeah all I need to do is install the heads and the engine "should" be ready to roll. God willing :pray:

Got the booster all set up. Installed the brake rod to the brake pedal, booster bolted down, MC re installed and I spliced in the adjustable proportioning valve until I buy and install rear disc brakes.

The update on the engine is that I've got the new head gaskets installed, heads torqued down and valves/rockers adjusted and torqued. And also the headers and exhaust re installed.
Since I've got the intake and valve covers off I'm buying a new shiny high rise intake and new shiny valve covers cause what was on it were used free to me refurbished intake and covers.
I also installed a lokar kick down cable and fuel pressure gauge.

I'm planning to ditch the oem fan and install an electric one. Also header wrap, and new plugs n wires.

[quote="Craigerf100"]
So driving my black 68 f100 short bed style side Friday, and this white chevy blazer swerved right in front of me, trying not to clip the car in front of 'it' while on the highway. i tried to avoid hitting it but both of us ended up sliding out of control along the highway. the blazer missed the guard rails.... but my truck didn't. i hit them probably going 50mph. it spun me around then the back end of my truck it the rails. and thats what stopped me. by the time i got out of the truck the blazer was long gone....

And that right there is why dash-cams are becoming very popular.

So these are the new parts I'm planning on buying next week for my 302. I wanted these originally but could afford them at the time. But since I had to install new head gaskets, I might as well install new intake and valve covers.

And these are some pics that I found; that are another direction I've thought about going. This is the look my wife likes best.

Hooked up my Am radio and (free) pioneer stereo unit up in my truck the others day. Am radio i have the light only hooked up. And the stereo i installed in the glove box. I control it via remote and I also installed a auxiliary cable for my music play lists.
When i was splicing the wires togeather I decided to wire it where I could swop stereos out if and when I get a better unit.
I also de-jerry rigged much of the PO wiring job. :/
It all works well except. It looked better in my head then it turned out lol. Not sure yet how I'm gonna mount the stereo to the glove box.
