seat idea

Post by abyars111 »

I'm looking to install modern seats into my 1970 Crew Cab. I want seats with headrest front & back. I've seen a couple crew cabs with Dodge & Tahoe front and back seats that look nice. I just came from the junkyard where I looked at a 2003 F150 crew cab or supercrew I think they call it. Anyway I like the seats, the front is the 60/40 split bench. The rear is a 60/40 design that fold down. Has anyone ever adapted the front or rear seats from this body style into a bump or dent truck regular or crew cab?

If those came in high back models I'd install them. I've always liked them. They look great. Thanks for the link. That bracket setup looks buildable.

I love the new seats of today. So comfortable, especially the bench buckets in today's trucks. But my personal view is that they don't look like they could be an original option. They look out of place. The buckets in my truck are an oem option. And surprisingly Comfortable. If u go with a newer seat you could always get it redone with 1960s style vinyl and stitching.
Which ever way u go post some pics when you're done.

I picked these up at the junkyard. They are from a 2003 Lariat SuperCrew. Except for the tear in the driver's seat the leather is perfect. I found wiring schematics and spoke with some late model truck owners, it appears that all the electronics are contained in the seat and just need power and grounds. I checked and the control modules are in place. The truck had just came onto the yard. I paid $225 for the pair. I plan to install the rear first in the next couple weeks. I'll post pics when I'm done.
