Installing LMC Carpet....Too Long?
Just started working on installing the new carpet on my 71 F250 4X4 (from LMC). Carpet seems to be way too long. Goes 18" up the fuel tank. Any thoughts????? Do I just cut it off?

They normally sell it a little long so people can trim it to fit. Better for it to be too long than too short, right?

I can cut it off but the end is all finished the way it is..... Seems odd they'd do that is all. Thanks

If they finished the end, then they may have sent you the cut for people that have removed their tanks. That cut goes up and under where the tank sits. Either way, still better to have too much than not enough. I say either cut it or if there is enough, cover up the front of your tank. If you have a bench seat, you wont see it anyway. If you have buckets, then do what looks best.

Re: Installing LMC Carpet....Too Long?
That makes sense. Maybe for a truck with the fuel tank removed. The front end of the carpet (under dash) doesn't have a finished end on it. Need to trim and tuck under firewall insulation (guess that's what it's called). The rear portion has a finished edge....and goes 2/3 of the way up the tank. I was looking at it today.......going to either cut it off at the base of the tank.....or stick it to the tank. Like you said; you don't really see it back there. Actually the weird part was my original carpet (maybe wasn't stock...who knows). It didn't go under the seat at all..... That's why I don't know how it was supposed to be in the first place. Thanks

Make sure you take your time before cutting. Get it exactly where you want it, mark, then cut.
When finished, take it to an upholstry shop and have them stitch up the end you cut. Probably won't cost you very much.
At least then you'll have what looks like a custom fitted carpet. Just a suggestion.
