Re: Bulbs Versus LED
Thanks for the info on the plug and play units. For whatever reason I was thinking that I may want to go back stock someday, and the I suddenly realized that I am rewiring the entire truck anyway with all new wiring, so why wouldn't I go with the hardwired set?? I wasn't thinking that decision through. I will just pay the $20 more and get the better set. Checked it out more on the website you linked and they are in fact made in the USA. I also read the installation instructions and there are 4 wires on the unit with only 3 being used. The option between wanting the quick flashing brake lights or the solid brake lights determines which 3rd wire to hook up. So pretty easy stuff.

Re: Bulbs Versus LED
Cool. I'll be adding them to my crew cab. My wife has asked me more then once if I was going to put those in just like I did on the car. She thinks, and I agree, they are just plain safer because people take notice of them when you put on your brakes or turn signals.

Re: Bulbs Versus LED
Thats a cool complete kit! Not 100% sure about that price as I think I may be able to piece that kit out for cheaper, but then the convenience of one order with one shipping charge may be worth it. Thanks for posting that... I may just go with that kit.

Re: Bulbs Versus LED
That is a neat kit.
Bronco Graveyard has it a little cheaper:

Does anyone know what "Smart Signal" technology is? I can't find any info.

Awesome find!! And just to be sure, the Bronco kit will work with our bumps, right?
I think that is the kit that I will be buying. I will end up with 2 extra side marker LED's as I don't have the front side markers on my truck, but I can use everything else and I am sure I can find a use for those extra lights somewhere. The only difference that I see in the description is that the kit on the mustang site says it also comes with license plate LEDs where the Bronco Graveyard kit does not say that. However, the picture shows an extra LED that is not accounted for in the description, so it may very well be there. It actually looks like the exact same kit with a couple minor color differences, but the electronics all look the same.

Re: Bulbs Versus LED
I'd call Bronco Graveyard to be sure but I think it will fit. It looked to me both pictures had the same components.

Yeah, sorry for the thread hijack, but it is all related to the same topic.69Ford wrote:Wow I''m glad I started this post so much info that help's me out.
And Anthony, for the "Smart Signal Technology" explanation, click on picture #2 of the Mustang page... The 2nd picture describes it. Sounds like it also has some flashing brake light options. Additionally, they assemble the components in the USA. I am sure the electronics are all from China (most are) but at least they are put together here in Texas which means they should work better/longer.

Re: Bulbs Versus LED
OK, now, back to the original topic . . .
I received the LED replacement 1895 "bulbs" Saturday and powered one up to check it. Seems pretty bright, it dims as the voltage varies and draws a whopping 20 milliamps. That current draw means the 7 LEDs are in series as I thought. Which also means there's probably no other circuitry to fail - Only the LEDs. If so, they should last a lifetime. I'm hoping they work out because, if they do, they'll be a great buy at under 50 cents each.
When I install them in the dash, I'll post a photo.
