Is clutch/brake pedal assembly for 67-72 same as 73-79?

Post by Shortybump429 »

Hi all!
I'm new to this site, but have had my 71 shortbed for about 7 years now, and it's been a labor of love to say the least! It's a factory Ranger XLT and now has a 429 under the hood. What I'm wondering is, will 73-79 clutch/brake pedals bolt in my truck? Mine's automatic and I want to change it over to manual.

Okay. I now have the correct clutch/brake pedal assembly in truck, a 351m - 400 bellhousing, tranny, and clutch linkage. My next question is, what z-bar bracket will fit my 429? The donor truck had an FE, and the engine side mount bracket doesn't even appear to be close to what I need.

each engine family. fe lima and smallblock etc. will have there own style of Z bar bracket. so you will need the Z bar brackact for a 429 engine. i think that means 351m 400 460 engines.

Thanks, Fordman. I'll see if I can locate a 351m-400 setup and take a look at it. I haven't come across a 385 series engine/4spd in the junkyards so far.

Found one from a 400 setup in the junkyard! My engine should be ready soon, and I'll see if it all lines up. Can't wait to show y'all some photos! :pop:
