Stupid horns.

Hey guys. Got an issue. My ol 72 sat 2 years. horn rela went bad so i got a new one. now horns dont blow right. hit button and hear like hissing noise. finally one horn will sound like a dying cow. other just continues to hiss. What gives? You think theres hope to fix them or new horns?

you can try to adjust them. i dont knwo that it will work but it might. there is a screw on the side of them. turn it just a little one way and see what happens. it can be turned two ways. and it adjusts the sound pitch. you can try tapping on them too. as they may be dirty. maybe a wasp built a nest in one of them. its hard to say.

Maybe ya got a mouse, or wasp nest in them, or maybe wrong relay, bad ground?

relay is good and right one. tap and they work sometimes. ill have to try adjustment to see what it might do. kinda thought of nest in them. how might I clean them?

i dont know if they can be cleaned out . water in them might short them out. if it is mud dobbers. tapping will break up th emud. a mous eo rwasp nest would be harder to shake out of them. it may have rust in them from sitting.

i dont know if they can be fixed or not. try running straight 12 volts to them. and may sure they are grounded good.

Like fordman said,make sure you have them getting a good 12v.Mine sat for 20years,nether one of them worked at first when I tried them. Took them off and hooked up to batt. charger in vice on the bench.Charger was at 10 amps and I beat the crap out of them.Low horn I got working, never got the high one to work.Had to go and find a new one.

beating and fixing them worked for the dog should work for the horns to, or you can get horns off of a big lincoln they are nice and lload
