Just here to point out that Dielectric grease is electrically insulating and for high voltage, you want to use DEOX oxide inhibitor :2cents:

your starter probably worked ok when the engine was old but now it needs a new one,the drive bushings could be wore,or the brushes, or the solinoid. :fr:

Mr Eagle, I agree with whats already been said. :yt:

Has the oil pump been primed and oil already to all the moving parts?
It should turn over with the spark plugs removed.
Do you have a way to pull it while in gear if it is a straight drive?

Good luck

I had to take some time off of the rebuild to move my parents in with me.

This is where I am at. I installed a high torque starter, new plugs and wires and a new head gasket. I have been waiting for a warmer day to try and start her up. Its been so cold I don't want to damage the internals. I think the moly lube is probably off all the bearings from previously trying to start her so I need to get a shaft to prime the oil pump and get the oil flowing before cranking again. Plus, I'm a little nervous that she won't turn over again. Won't know till I try.

Its snowing in Montgomery today so still a little cold. Maybe I'll try Saturday. Cross your fingers.
