single stock under dash speaker

Post by JB Automotive »

Ok anybody know where i can get either a stock 6x8 stock speaker or anything else that will fit and sound good? :? a 6x9 is too big for the space given not even sure how speaker is held in place? :hmm:
it looks to me that speaker is or was held by a pair of S clips that slipped over the mounting studs then tightened down.

got radio hooked up to a small cruddy 4 inch speaker :( for testing to ensure it worked properly so now i need a more permanent solution. I guess maybe hit Goodwill or other thrift stores or some rat hole audio place maybe the corner mexican stereo shop see what i can come up with as i am not looking to buy a new set for just one speaker.

any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanx

Many options are available. Here's a couple that other members have used:

http://www.turnswitch.com/speakers.htm
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_068R57N/Re ... erview-tab
http://www.metropartsmarket.com/catalog ... 51687.html

I don't have a pic of an actual bumpside speaker mounting bracket but, IIRC, it looked something like these (GM brackets). I believe one end clipped under the dash and then it flipped over the speaker and was held on by a stud/nut under the dash.

you almost have to mount the original size if your going to put it back under the dash in the original location. or find a new place in the cabto put other new speakers. i may have a extra original speaker bracket. not a good speaker though.
