It's close. All they needed to do was the tailgate and both upper and lower valances. They shot the engine bay, under the hood, and the radiator support in flat black so the motor should look nice with that backdrop. The truck is probably done by now if not in the next few days, but I do not want to get it home until after I get back from our holiday trip. Besides, once that truck is in the driveway, I will not be able to get the Christmas lights down. So I don't want it home until I have them off the house!

Just a quick update because I am too excited not to post. After 1 year and 12 days (wow!! haha) the truck is once again sitting in my driveway!! Unfortunately, the tow truck arrived after it was already dark out, so pictures will have to wait until tomorrow. But the paint looks sick! They still have my hood, tailgate, and valances, but other than those body pieces, the rest of the truck is here. :D :hd: :hd: :D

Now I just need to figure out which wiring kit I want to get so I can get started putting it back together. Probably will do a Painless kit. Figure I need to wire the truck first and of course, I waited to get that last. I cant afford new wiring until I get my tax return next month, but that is only a few weeks away. I was going to use the original wiring harness, but since it is apart I might as well put brand new wiring in the truck instead of 44 year old wiring. Besides, since I am putting power windows and door locks, AC, and additional accessories in it, I may as well do everything new for safety. Would hate to do a full rebuild and then have the truck burn up because of old wiring.

Well, here are a few pictures of it in the driveway in the daylight. The exterior is amazing with a mirror finish everywhere, but upon inspecting the interior today, I noticed a few areas of concern and a few chips and scratches that need to be addressed. I already called the shop and they are going to fix anything that needs to be done along with supplying me with touch up paint for future repairs so I am not too concerned with it.

Also, I looked at the Painless kit for our trucks last night and it averaged over $800. The cheapest I could find it was $755 and I am not willing to drop that kind of coin on a rewire kit. The American Autowire kit is a lot cheaper but they are more for GM products and I am considering the Ron Francis 24/7 kit. Either way I go, it is a lot of money. I may just go with my stock wiring which is in really good shape for being 44 years old. I can just add a bunch of relays for each of the accessories I want to add and then leave the stock wiring as is and should not have to worry about any problems. Undecided on which way to go there, but I will figure it out.

Anyway, here are some pics...

Really pops in the sun.

That's a lot of surface area to paint blem free. If you only found a couple of imperfections you are doing really well.

Damn, it looks great! It won't be difficult to add an accessory fuse/circuit breaker panel to power a few relays. Let's put a serious sound system in that cavernous interior! :D
I just put a 3Sixty.3 digital sound processor in my Focus last month.

She looks awesome Rich! Ever consider the EZ Wiring kit? Tons cheaper and you could just splice in your existing connectors from your old harness. I'm using one on mine. Got a real steal from a member here. 21 circuit kit of great quality. New is only $185. http://www.ezwiring.com/wiring_harness.html All wires are clearly labeled.

Wow! Thanks for the EZ Wiring recommendation! I looked for reviews on it and found this thread: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/show ... p?t=407025
Everyone in the thread pretty much raves about the EZ Wiring kit and a few slammed Ron Francis which is what I was considering. So thank you!! It is going to between the EZ Wiring kit and the stock wiring. I will buy the EZ wiring for that price and then when it gets here, make my decision!! If I decide to stick with the stock wiring, the kit wont go to waste as I definitely HAVE to rewire my Fairlane.. The wires in it are a fire hazard the way they have been hacked. So either way, I am buying the EZ Wiring kit and if I use it on the truck, then I will be buying another one when I do the Fairlane!

On a side note, everyone appears to rave about Rebel Wire also: http://rebelwire.com/rebel-wire-product ... ire%20Kits
And everything in their kit is made in USA. They are a little more, but not much. Looks like $230 for their 21 circut kit.

Thanks for all the compliments on the money I spent.. Now it is time for me to start putting in some actual work and get this beast put back together. I just ordered the EZ Wiring 21 circut kit that Randy mentioned. So once that gets here, I can start putting the wiring in and figure out how I want everything to go together. :D

So here is part one of a minor update. I was able to locate a pair of 67 F350 hood emblems a while ago which I had looked for for over a year. Felt like I had found a unicorn when I scored these. But then, I was able to locate a NOS 67 F350 hood emblem. Unfortunately, he only had one and the chance of me finding an NOS one for the other side is probably harder than getting struck by lightning. Anyway, I jumped on the NOS one just to use it as a perfect example of what I wanted mine to look like and to eventually use as wall art.

I spent several hours today cleaning and taping up the two F350 emblems I am going to put on the truck so I could paint them. I found a red paint that is very close to the color Ford used in these emblems but could only find it in gloss and not the flat that they used. I don't mind the gloss though as the truck has a high gloss as well. At least the red is close.

So here is a picture of the NOS emblem at the top, one that I finished taping up in the middle, and the other one that had been cleaned, but not taped yet.

Image

At the time of this post, they are now both taped up and have been sprayed with self etching primer. I will be spraying them with the red in a couple of hours and then let them dry overnight. Tomorrow I will post a picture of the final product next to the NOS one. Hopefully I get them close. These buggers took FOREVER to tape up just right. Lots and lots of cutting and small tape pieces!
