Instrument cluster voltage regulator
Can anyone tell me the difference between the 1970 and the 1971 regulators ? I bought one for my 70 Crew Cab and it worked for about 2 seconds then nothing. I really need to get my gauges working. I'm thinking either I got the wrong part the first time, there is something else going on to cause the new one to burn up, or I what I got wasn't very well made and fried as soon as my fuel gauge started to read. Any Ideas? Thanks Jeff

The 70-72 IPVR's were the same as far as I know. The tech articles on this site also say the same thing: http://www.fordification.com/tech/fuel- ... -units.htm
It is possible you have another problem causing the IPVR to go bad, or like you said, maybe you just got a bad one? If you have a local junkyard that has some bump's in it, go pull some IPVR's and use those to test/repair your truck. When I have bought them from the junkyard, they usually charge less than $1 per IPVR where as new ones cost quite a bit more than that.

Re: Instrument cluster voltage regulator
I think that's what I will do. It's.a lot cheaper than experimenting with the new ones.
