My '68 wiring is kinda hacked under the dash. It looks like the interior has been changed around in a couple different ways. When i got it the 'radio' connection wires were lamp cord jammed into the fuse holder block under the fuses.
I have a plug that is square with 4 flat blade connections, female, sticking out near the radio behind the glovebox that isn't showing up on any of the wiring diagrams... is that for a radio?
I have a period correct ford radio that has two of the 'double bullet rubber molded' connectors on it... seems like that should be the OG radio wiring.
I don't think the truck originally had a radio but its hard to say. Someone cut off the radio mouting ears and smashed out the inside of a die-cast insert piece to jam a conventional radio in there. I dunno if it was a block off plate or a radio mounting bezel that they smashed up.
Where does the radio wiring show up in a wiring diagram? Or should i just pull it right off the fuse panel with all new wiring?

Re: Radio wiring diagram
I believe that the radio was not addressed in the wiring diagrams because it is an accessory. Someone verify that conclusion. The radio could come off any power source. The "stock" unit was on in run only. One power wire, one wire for the lights, and 2 wires for the speaker.
Sounds like someone installed an after market radio (which is pretty common) and made the radio fit.
I think I remember seeing a wiring diagram of the radio but cannot find it.
There are 2 empty space to the left on the fuse block. They could be used for auxiliary devises.

Re: Radio wiring diagram
i hadn't looked at the back of the fuse block to see what all is there for add on's... i'm pretty sure whoever stuck lamp cord in the fuse socket wasn't doing it on behalf of ford, definitely hacked in there.
i was just curious about that strange four wire flat blade plug that is back there. maybe it is for factory AC? Although i thought that wasn't around in '68 either... the plug doesn't show up on any of the diagrams from 68 and isn't in the master '67 diagram.... weird.
doing some digging around last night i found 3 more mystery plugs under the hood as well... as much as i hate cutting apart the still-intact underhood harness i think that is going to be next thing addressed.
