Are there two horn brush contact assemblies. One under the horn button that slips in to the steering wheel and one that sits in the turn signal switch and rides against the plate under the steering wheel.
And if there is two can number 11 in the following schematic be used for both as it only shows it going on under the horn button.

My steering column was a mess and nothing was in place. I did do a search here but didn't find any mention of two so maybe I'm way off.

My 72 only had one, item 11 in your link. The horn circuit is just a relay waiting for ground, which is provided by the horn contact when you press the button (or bar).
Check out this fantastic "how to" by Sargentrs http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... &sk=t&sd=a he has some really good pics of what the horn contact looks like.

The one that you speak of is it on top of the steering wheel or does it sit in the turn signal switch which is below the wheel.
In that schematic it looks like it's on top of the wheel.

In the 5th photo down, to the right of the steering shaft, you can see the brown button sticking out of the plastic tower. That's the non-conductive part of that horn button. On the bottom is a spring and a metal button. You can see the ground wire is screwed to the bottom of the plastic tower. When you push on the horn button/ring, the bottom metal button contacts ground and the horn blows. The LMC pic is deceiving. When you take the horn button/ring off, you can drop that contact all the way through the steering wheel into that plastic tower.tbone6 wrote:My 72 only had one, item 11 in your link. Re: Are There Two Horn Button Brush Contacts
Ah I see. Sometimes those schematics are deceiving.
So the hole in the wheel was maybe a production trick cause with the wheel off it's much easier to slip that contact in.
Thanks to you both for taking the time.
