Has anybody used this 1971 F 100 PICKUP Painless Performance Universal Truck Harnesses 10118?
My electrical seems to work fine but is very mess looking under the hood. My temp gauge on the instrument cluster doesn't work but somebody put in an after market with what might be a capillary tube. I would like to get the original working, is there a good check to see if it is the cluster or wiring?

Re: Painless wire harness on 1971 f100
No info on the painless harness, although they look to have great instructions and are made as exact replacements for our trucks.
For the temp gauge, just take a resistance reading from the cluster through the wire and the sender to ground. Take the reading with the engine cold, then run the engine till it is hot and take another reading. I don't recall the values (I am sure a google search will find them) but if the numbers change by a hundred ohms or so then the wiring and sender are probably good.
