Ford truck newbie question
The turn signals in my truck come on but will not flash. I want to check the flasher but I can't see it anywhere. It is a '68 F100. I found in a box of parts the emergency flasher switch and was told it goes in the glove box. Well, my trucks box is long gone. Would that not being hooked up have a effect on the blinkers working? When I turn on the left blinker the light comes on and stays on, I can manually make it work. When I turn on the right blinker I hear the clunk one time and that is it.

Sounds like the flasher unit...should be somewhere behind the instrument cluster, on the left side. If it's original, it might be attached to the back of the gauges, or just hanging down somwhere.
Give it a tap and it might start flashing again.
Check the sockets and bulbs, the metal contacts might need cleaning up too.

Re: Ford truck newbie question
Thanks, found it. Actually found two of them. One was a 552 which comes up as a flasher but the other was a wagner 224. I'm guessing one is for the hazards and the other for the normal signals. I picked up a 552 this morning and replaced the one behind the dash panel that is in the retainer and it still did not work. The other one was to the left of the column down low. I swapped the two and they started working but flashing fast. After a couple of tries they worked normal. Weird. I guess I need to track down one of the wagners.
