Good lookin build fellas'! I was wondering on how you guys broke in your engine? I have some lucas break in oil with the high zinc content the engine builder gave me to use in my 302. I was thinking of using the oil of course (new cam and whole nine yards) and just once I get the timing close enough to run, just run for about 20 or 30 mins around 2000rpm. Sound like I'm on the right track?

Sounds like you have it pretty well covered! As this was the first motor either of us had built, we had BobbyFord come over to make sure we didn't screw anything up. Glad he did because we came across issues with the build that he was able to figure out. But yeah, we filled it with oil and added the break in oil with the high zinc and primed the motor. We then got it started and got the timing set, and then let it run for about 30 minutes at about 2200 rpms.

Once I get my truck back and put together, we will be doing it all over again with my 460. :D

Well here we go! Gonna go ahead an swap out the T-18 for a C6. We took the 67 on it's first jaunt on southern California freeways to pick up this C6 out of a 74 f250 high boy. She ran sweet btw, nice and cool with good oil pressure. Here's some pics.

Well, its been a while since there has been any update on either of these trucks. Main reason is that CNM67's truck is running great and he does not have a lot of extra money right now. So other than driving and enjoying his truck, we really haven't done much to it. Still have to get the headers on and tackle the exhaust one of these days as well and finish collecting the auto trans parts and convert it to automatic. But yesterday, we decided to tackle the rear rollpan that we cut and have had sitting around for a long while now.

We got the idea from another member here on Fordification in which he took an old tailgate and cut the top of it off. He then flipped it and made a rollpan out of it. We happened to have an extra tailgate that had a perfect top on it, but was rusted through on the bottom. Perfect candidate for the roll pan. So a while back, we went ahead and cut the top of it off and figured out how much of it to leave for a roll pan project.

We did not take any pictures while we did this, but here are the pictures after it was installed. Originally we were going to weld mounting tabs on either side and weld the rollpan on, filling in the side gaps. But doing it this way would have eliminated access to the lower mounting bolts for the tailgate and we decided this was not a good idea. We decided to weld two brackets to the back of the roll pan which we then bolted directly to the frame where the bumper mounts would go. This way, the rollpan is removable if we ever need to remove or adjust the tailgate. After a bunch of measuring and test fitting, we got the brackets just right were all of the body lines line up. I did not take any pictures of the brackets, but here is the final install:

We had hopes that it would come out halfway decent. It actually came out soooo much better than we had hoped. Took about 4 hours total, and that included fabricating a drop-down for the license plate mount so we could use the factory mounting hardware and light.

Cannot remember the name of the member that came up with this idea for a rear rollpan, but we want to thank him for sharing the idea because this is probably one of the better looking rollpans you can do for the bumpside. Looks better than any of the LMC ones you can buy!
The mini bumps that runs along the pan and the top of the tailgate just frame the rear end of the truck so well! :D

Posted the update to Caleb's truck and forgot to post an update on my Crew... As the thread shows, the Crew went in for body and paint back in January. They were granted plenty of time to get it done in order to keep my costs down, and for what I am getting, I am pretty much stealing this paint job as they decided to take the truck down to bare metal and re-do all of the bodywork that had been previously done.

Anyway, I went over the other day to check on it and they are actually moving right along now. I actually had to tell them to slow down because my wife totaled her SUV a couple of weeks ago and we needed to buy a new car so she could get to and from work. This was an expense I was not ready for (was going to buy her a new car early next year) and I had to dip into my paint fund as part of the down payment. I told them I should have all of the money back in my paint fund in mid-October, so maybe by then it will be done. But if it was ready before that, I would not be able to pay for it.

Anyway, as it sits, the bed, tailgate, and all 4 doors are completely done and ready for paint. The cab, front fenders, and hood are currently getting the bodywork finished up and should be shot with primer soon. Then it just comes down to shooting the paint. I am pretty sure I am going to go with Ford dark Highland Green.

Anyway, a few pics as the truck sits today:

So it is coming along... little by little.

Sorry to hear about your wife's accident and glad she wasn't seriously injured, Rich! You and Caleb have done some fantastic work. Both trucks are looking great. I think its cool how you guys combined both projects on one thread. Never know who's going to post an update next. Keeps it exciting

Well, I decided on going with Dark Highland Green as the color for the crew and had them order the paint last week. After mixing it and shooting a sample on a small piece of cardboard, I was good with it. Stopped by today and after all this time, it was awesome to finally see some color on the truck. Granted, it is just the interior and door jams right now, but the color looks SOOOOOOO much better on the truck than it did on the cardboard. And I am not sure the photos do it justice, but in person, it is an awesome dark green. At night, the truck will look black.

Anyway, I will be dropping by to see the truck more often as the paint job progresses and of course, I am sure there will be more photos to follow. But just this little bit got me excited for my truck again. I should have it back in my driveway in another few weeks hopefully!

If I remember right you told me what that shop was charging you. I would have bet that they weren't going to spend that kind of time on it. DA'ing all the panels, I see guide coat so they're blocking out the panels etc. etc. That is huge amount of time to do that kind of work.

Love dark paint, curious to see the difference out in the light. Maybe I'll drive around SC looking for that shop.

Got the call on Thursday that the truck finally made it into the booth. I was busy at work and unable to get over there the past 2 days, but just popped over there this morning and the wet sanding has already begun. The bed will go over to another shop to have Line-X sprayed inside of it, and then when it comes back, the truck will be put back together and then I need to arrange payment and get the truck towed back home. I will have it back in my driveway ready for reassembly just in time for the Southern California "cold" weather and occasional rain. Not so much worried about the cooler temperatures, but I would really like to get the glass back in before the truck gets rained on. Unfortunately, I have a lot going on with power windows that I need to figure out so I am not sure how fast I can get the side glass in but either way, its going to be great having it home and finally being able to start putting it all back together!!

Thanks and yeah, kinda... haha. I would be a lot more excited if I was getting the truck back in June-September. But being November, I am not as excited and a little more nervous. The truck is so long that I have no where to put it. It needs to sit in my driveway and it would cost a small fortune to have a custom car cover made for it. I am afraid to put anything else over the new paint as I dont want to scratch it and yet, I would rather not have it completely exposed to the elements for the whole winter. Maybe I can cover it in cloth sheets and then cover it again in a blue tarp? Oh well, either way I am going to be getting a steady stream of letters from the Homeowners association once again. :D
