I redid my headlights with a wiring harness kit that takes the power from the battery directly by using two relays. Relieves the switch by not running so much power through it. My question
is before I did this I could see a slight deflection in the Ammeter gauge when I turned the lights on and off. Is this because the power is not run through the truck system anymore and directly
off the battery. I know 90% of these gauges do not work but I actually had mine working before this. The reason I did this is because I was having the same problem as someone else with a
post out there right know headlights going out once and a while and flickering. Halogen bulbs may draw to much for old switch. Thanks

Re: Ammeter gauge question
Sounds like the setup is working properly. Only the very small amount of current needed to activate the relays is going through the Ammeter. If the relays are fed from the battery, the current being passed will not be shown on the Ammeter.
