Rotunda tach on pertronix

Post by thejunkman »

So I have a 67 f100 with a transplanted 390 with pertronix ignition. Also have a 6k rotunda tach from an old family friend that was like an uncle to me before he passed. He loved old ford trucks and I would love to run this tach on my truck in both memory of him and just plain cool factor. Can anyone supply me with a wiring diagram? Apparently these things can fry if you hook me up wrong from what I was told.

Sorry no specific wiring diagram.

Typically: red is power, black is ground, white is instrument lighting, and blue or green is the coil signal.

What colors ya working with???

It's wired differently than the regular tach's, it gets less than 12 volts power at the coil, wired in series for points type ignition.

Have you tried searching for the installation sheet? Try searching "Faria" tachometer as well.

The wires coming out of the tach are blue, black, and red. Green case ground. There's no part number on the tach so I haven't found much info yet. Maybe that's a dumb statement as maybe they are all the same, but I just don't know. I was afraid to hook it up as I would normally hook up a tach because I did read somewhere that these were a little different. If it isn't fried already I don't want to risk frying it. It seems they are hard to come by, added with the sentimental value.
