Strange duraspark wiring problem
Hey guys, I searched through old topics but I couldnt find a problem similar to ming I just did a duraspark 2 swap on my 302 in my 72. The distributer came out of if I rember correctly an 81 van the box has the blue stripe. So I got it all wired up and running pretty good dosent seem as spunky now but I'm not sure what todo about the pink wire. I ran the red from the box straight to the coil and used the factory wire from the key and I hooked the white to the celonid and went to hit the key and it just kept cranking after the motor was started so I left the white unhooked. I've herd about cutting the pink wire so I cut it at the cluster plug is that the right spot to cut it? After I cut it the gas gauge stayed pegged at full and the gas gauge has never worked before what could be causing that? Do I need to resplice the pink at the cluster plug and cut it at the ignition switch? Thanks guys

Check the diagram against your installation. An inline resistor is needed.
The fuel gauge would seem to be a different problem. During your work, you may have bumped a wire. The gauge receives 5 volt from the IPVR then is grounded to the tank. The oil gauge and temperature gauge also are connected to 5 volt from IPVR and grounded at their respective sending units.
