12 volts at pos side coil

Post by propman130 »

I have a 69 f250 camper special. I am not sure if I have more than one problem. I found out the hard way the gas gage is off get to just below a 1/4 is empty. Couldn't restart after getting gas. Towed home. Found the next day my points were to close at about .010 reset to .017. Truck started but didn't want to stay running. Thought maybe sucked up something from tank replaced filter , rebuilt carb. Still no help. Started checking wiring now I have 12 volts at pos side of coil with key in run. I know before I only had about 6 to 7 volts. How do I check the resistance when it's wired into the ignition switch I tried and got only .05 ohms. Not sure if thats good or bad. Thought it steps down with current flow. I can get a wire at parts store but it has bullet ends. How do you install at switch? :(
