Coincidence or another problem?

I will try not to be too long winded. I took my '70 F100 for a ride the other nite and started to notice dim lights and blinker indicators burning solid. I shut it off at my buddies house and it wouldnt start back up. I drove home with everything but lights working fine. I was advised to start with changine the voltage regulator, I did, jumped it off and drove it around a bit. This trip yeilded another problem, my C6 didn't want to shift correctly. Fluid looks fine. End of the day report: still not charging and tranny acting up. Any chance my problems are related?
