OK Everyone,
Let me see if I can explain this without having to write an entire book. First off the body I used on the truck is a 1971 F100, with about 18,000 original miles. The wiring is in excellent shape. OK, here is what I have done. I spliced an F600 gauge cluster into the main wiring harness, before I connected the lights back up, I could hit the left and right turn signal and the light in the cluster indicating right and left would light up but not flash.
OK, so now I have hooked up the front and rear lights. I used the factory plugs for everything and the only wiring I had to fix was at the taillights. I have double checked those connections they are matched and wired correctly. I also replaced both flashers under the dash (didn't know that there where two flashers ).
So now here is the problem I am having. The four ways work just fine and do what they are supposed to. All the running lights work fine. The headlights and high beams work fine. When I hit my signals though they only flash like twice and than stop. Once it does this it wont work at all. I am leaning towards a ground problem, the only problem with this is I have got 6 individual grounds on the truck. Two off the cab. Two off of the front clip, and just for giggles two off of the bed.
Fix actions I have tried. Re-Checked all my connections to the new cluster. They all are good and insulated so as to not cause a short with shrink wrap. Replaced both flashers. Checked grounds. Checked connections at all the splices and wiring harness connectors. I am at a loss now on what to check. Oh I also checked all the fuses.
Anyone got any ideas! In advance thanks for any and all help!

Did you check the ground from the instrument panel to the cab.

I am starting to think maybe my turn signal is bad. I took my multi meter and was able to get 11.5 volts going into the flasher. Since both sides are not working I am thinking the only point of failure could be the switch itself. From my point of view, the circuit isn't closed until the switch picks which side to send the power down. From there the power hits the lights and ground themselves out through the light fixture. This action engages the flasher to do its thing. So the single point of failure in this setup is the turn signal switch itself... Comments on my theory welcome!

It could be your switch, but do just one more thing just to make sure its not a brand new bad flasher (it happens...). Since your emergency flashers are working and your turn signals are not, you know for a fact that you definitely have at least one good flasher.
Switch your flashers and see if it still behaves the same way. If the turn signals start working and your emergency flashers start acting up, then you have a bad flasher. Just an easy step to eliminate a possible problem.

You read my mind! I actually have 3 brand new flashers now! They all worked for the 4-Ways but not the turn signals. I will be pulling the wheel either tonight when I get home from work or first thing in the AM. The truck is so close to being on the road it isn't funny!

Long story short, I had the same issues, replaced the switch and the flashers still no luck. I cleaned the terminals of the turn signal fuse block and bam. They worked. Had to do the same for the rear brake light.

Just wanted to say thank you. I was working longer hours at work so it took me till yesterday to check out the fuse panel. You are 100% correct. Took a can of CRC and a soft wire brush, got some new fuses (the old ones came out hard) and bam I have turn signals! The best part is I didn't have to pull my stearing wheel. On a side note the panel didn't look corroded at all so it was something I would have never looked at. Again thanks!
