1973 F250 fuse box upgrade

Post by JPC1972 »

I am going to upgrade my fusebox in my 73 F250 with the painless 30001 oem unit.
Does anyone know what wires from the existing fuse box (color codes) will need to match the terminals
on the painless box? I know the existing box is really limited with fuses (like 5) so I am hoping it is not too difficult for a novice to do..

here is the link to the painless

It should not be too difficult. I am in the process of doing the same with a 1972 F-350 I salvaged from a farm shed this year. I used the Fordification wiring schematics and accomplished the job with only a little trouble. The fuse block I used was purchased from the local NAPA store. Your fuse box looks like a much better choice.

Thanks for replying..

it is a very nice box but Painless said it is for a gm car.. the problem is this one pops up when you search for one for a Ford pickup.. they gave me a diagram of their box that comes with their ford truck harness... I am trying to figure out which color coded wires are on the current fuse box and how I can map them to the new fuse box.. I think I am in over my head..

I am attaching their diagram..
