Blinker Out
The passenger side blinker light in the dash went out a while back on my 72 F100. I just figured I needed a new bulb. Then I notice that my front passenger blinker is also out. The rear blinker works fine. I replaced the front blinker bulb but that didn't help. The filament in the bulb didn't look bad but there was a dark spot on the glass so I replaced it. If the dash bulb is out would that make it so the front bulb doesn't work but the back does?

No--the indicator wouldn't matter. Did you run a test at the socket in front to see if power was getting to the bulb? It's starting to sound like a bad turn signal switch to me---

I guess you can say I ran a test. I put in a new bulb and it didn't turn on. The turn signal switch is about a year old. I had a whole slew of problems before that. I was just looking at the schematics on this site for the 72 and it looks like power from the switch to the front bulb does go through the dash circuit board. To the rear does not. If I'm reading this right then is it possible that the dumb bulb in the dash is the culprit? And if so does anyone know where I can get one?

re: Blinker Out
Where do you see the '72 diagram?
I'm looking at the '70 diagram which should be the same. All the turn signal outputs come from the turn signal switch.
From turn signal switch on wiring diagram:
#2 - RF turn lamp
#49 - R turn indicator on dash
These two wires are joined together to the turn signal switch
#3 - LF turn lamp
#50 - L turn indicator on dash
These two wires are joined together to the turn signal switch
#282 - RR turn lamp
#283 - LR turn lamp

Here's the 72 diagram:

I looked at the 70 also but they don't quite look the same. On this 72 diagram it looks like the front bulb wire goes to the hazard switch and then turn signal switch and then to the indicator. I think? So if both the dash and front bulb are not receiving power I guess it could be the TS switch.

re: Blinker Out
Oh, ok. I didn't see that diagram. Boy it sure is hard to follow! Anyway, it looks like it's wired the same way but layed out a little different. Still, power for all the turn signal lamps comes from the turn signal switch.
From turn signal switch on '72 diagram:
White/Blue - RF turn lamp
White/Blue - R turn indicator on dash
These two wires are joined together to the turn signal switch
Green/White - LF turn lamp
Green/White - L turn indicator on dash
These two wires are joined together to the turn signal switch
Seems like the problem is the turn signal switch, what happens when you turn the hazards on? It should override the turn signal switch and flash everything.
