390 Engine Wiring

Post by ford4x4fun »

OK, guys I feel like an idiot but it has been so long since I took my motor out I am having problems hooking the wiring back up. I took pictures before I tore it apart, but I can't seam to find them. So needless to say I am having issues. Here is what I got going on and what I think needs to happen.

The body/wiring is a 71 F100.
Motor 390.

If I remember correctly my wire coming off of my distributor goes to the Negative terminal of the coil. Now I have 3 wires coming off of the cab. One goes to the coil, the other two go to the oil and water. Can anyone tell me what color the wire is that goes to there positive side of the coil. I don't want to cross something up second guessing myself, and I am by no means a master mechanic. In advance thanks for any and all help!

The ignition to coil wire should be red/green or pink. I'm not sure how long the resistor wire is, but it's one of those two colors.

The oil sending unit wire is white/red.

The temp sending unit wire is red/white.
