Post by Youngkidoldtruck »

i recently replaced my spark plugs, spark plug wires, and distributor cap, i rewired it like it was before but now its misfiring, and i have no idea why, im guessing i messed up on wiring somewhere, but i dont know where, can someone tell me how to wire the sparkplugs to the distributor on a 68 Ranger with a 390?

Just also wanted to add that you'll have to re-time the engine with a timing light now. :(

unless the distributor was changed there is no need to re time...
firing order is
1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8

triple check plug wires

I had 3 and 5 backwards one time...

also look inside cap for possible broken center pin
I had this happen..a small piece lodged next to the rotor contact and it fired all kinds of weird
