No juice inside

Post by max03 »

Alright bumpsters, here's the run down:
Earlier this year I picked up a 2wd 68 swb 300 ott. The engine had a blown head gasket and the clutch was trashed. It's been pulled and removed and should be back from a rebuild next week. I finally got afew days off work an figured I would replace all the light bulbs and clean up the wiring before everything gets put back together. My issue is this, no power at the fuse panel? With the key in the "on" position every positive connection under the good is good but nothing at the panel. The fuses appear good, Does the headlight dim switch have to be grounded maybe? New floor pans installed and haven't mounted the switch yet. All the connections under the dash seem like their hooked up except one white 6 prong connector but theirs no match to plug it into. Hopefully I'm missing Somthing simple because I sure would like to have everything lit up nice and bright before the new engine gets home:/ not sure how to post pics but ill gladly email any needed. Thanks!

The white connector is for the turn signal harness, columns out for new bearings. Maybe that is preventing the completed circuit?

Wire # 37 black with yellow stripe should come off of the starter solenoid, (main battery cable + large post side) to feed the fuse panel:

Turns out I had a bad ground from the battery to the frame. Wire #37 is correct per diagram. Thank you! I was admiring her with the headlights on and noticed that when the first pull of the knob operates the park lamps and second pull or "click" operates the headlights...mine lights up both when only the parking lights should be illuminated. Maybe a bad switch?

I was going to say that the cab grounds to the motor, and the motor grounds to the battery. Without the motor nothing is going to work.

Instrument lights are working and the heater control is corrected! If anyone is needing an illustration of the wiring for the blower switch on a 1968 which I couldn't find, the diagram for a 1969 will work:)

Now to figure out how my headlights are Comming on when only the parking should be illuminated..
