Resistor Wire

Post by 69Ford »

I put electronic ignition "Pertronix" in my truck. I keep reading about resistor wire. Was I to remove or replace this wire. Truck runs wonderfull so should I just not worry about it.
Thanks.

I'm running the resistor wire on my '63 with an old Pertronix. It's been trouble free for almost 15 years.

As long as its working.......its working. My opinion is that most of that full 12 volt stuff is related to performance engines.

What about with a duraspark in a 460? The po used the resistor wire when they swaped the motor in. I removed it but not sure how to make a good connection at the ignition switch.

Duraspark also uses a resistor wire, just different resistance. I run the original resistor wire to the Duraspark on my 72 F250 with a 460. Works fine.

Hmmm. Maybe I should't have cut out that wire. I have 12 volts running to the distributor now is that a problem? Any ideas on how to properly connect new wire to ignition switch.
