turn signals and 4 way flashers

Post by randyj68 »

I have a 68 f100, didn't have the emergency flasher switch nor the switch panel in the glove box. I found a switch and panel at a local yard but the dang switch wasn't anygood, basically fell apart. The harness that the switch plugs into has four wires, took a tester foubd that hot wire then used a jumper and figured out that one lead operates the right front, the other the left fron and the other operates both rear. I have a switch that has two terminals, figured I'd run a wire to the hot and tie the other three to the other post and have flashers. Worked like a charm, went down the road happy, went to make a turn and my turn signals wouldnt work, unplugged the switch from the harness and turn signals work. Will i have to use a 4 post switch or is something else wrong? As usual...thanks for any input

Randy, what you've done is made a circuit between the front and back lights using the single pole switch. The wiring diagram doesn't show the throw of the switch:

I'd try NPD / DC or LMC for the switch and be done.

If you need a switch, you can have mine. I'm removing the choke cable and installing a switch from a '72 truck. Here's a pic of it.
