New Gauge Cluster/Ignition

Post by J_Boo »

I just got a new gauge cluster, I have a 67 with ammeter and oil pressure gauges. The new cluster has dummy lights, other than replacing the oil sending unit can I just plug and play?

Then, I did plug up the new cluster and the Alt dummy light is on, the ignition isn't working, doesn't work with either cluster. Will that cause that light to go on and how hard is it to replace that ignition?

Totally different wiring for gauges vs. idiot lights.

You can make it work, but it requires a bunch of mods.

Best thing is to find the correct cluster or find a wiring harness to go with the replacement cluster.
Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools talk because they have to say something.--Plato
Why is it that there's seldom time to fix it right the first time, but there's always time to fix it right the second time???

That's not an oil leak :nono: That's SWEAT from all that HORSEPOWER!!

First do you have a 12 Pin connector or is it more than 12 Pins? Second is your Blinker Relay external of the 12 Pin connector? I'm doing the opposite of you I'm installing a FIP ( Guaged ) from a SIP ( Idiot Lights ) cluster. Was the cluster missing in the truck or do you have a guage messed up?

The cluster was in the truck, ammeter didn't work. I think it's a 12pin and one of the pins is missing, I think it is a wire coming from the ignition. The blinker doo daty is attached to the cluster.

I was told it was a 67, but I have doubts.
