Re: Penetrating Fluids
Had a boss in a shop that had his wife collect bacon and sausage grease in old drill tubes and it drove me nuts. I couldn't take it. Made me hungry as all get out then I'd get crabby if I didn't get some grub in me.72 brownie wrote:Bacon Grease works good for cutting oil, i used to work at a fab shop a few years back and we used it on everything. it also smells like bacon when your cutting something!!

I think it was Foot pounds of torque. Not pounds per square inch. How would one determine the square inch contact surface area of a set of threads ?

the overall greatest penetrating oil is called corrosion x. it's much better than pb. it comes in a red and white bottle and as well as penetrating it kills rust and corrosion and it is safe on electronics. the catch is how expensive it is. last i checked it was around 30 bucks a bottle.

Re: Penetrating Fluids
when I was working at a sawmill right after highschool the older guys where using a mix of atf and high sulfur diesel fuel as a penetrant. When we serviced the big hyster lift trucks we would take the frozen carriage chains and soak them in this until they freed up. then a mix of atf and bar oil were used to lubed them up.
