Back up or reverse light switch
I'm looking for a Radio Shack part to replace a missing back up or reverse switch. I made my own wiring harness from about mid-truck back and have the wires and lamps in place for the reverse light system. Can't find a switch anywhere on the column or the tranny. Figured I can put a new switch in pretty much anywhere in the line, make it easier to reach and work on. Need help picking out a switch. It's the switch that operates when you put the tranny in reverse and turns on the white reverse lights in the taillight assembly. I've found some in catalogs but they seem to be tranny activated, which I don't believe will work with mine. I have a '68 F100 with a 460/C6 combo. The service manuals say the switch is either on the tranny or on the column in the engine compartment. Having searched, I think the last guy cut it out or tried to direct wire it from the engine bay. Any help is, as always, much appreciated. Thanks, Joe

Re: Back up or reverse light switch
The 68' and 69' columns should be pretty close to the same. Right above the bake pedal there is a safety neutral switch that is activated by the shifting lever. He might have broke it and found they are expensive. If you have a wrecking yard near by you can find one that will work. You could get a momentary switch to put inline but, you will have to find where reverse is and make sure it turns off when not in reverse.

Re: Back up or reverse light switch
Joe,
This is by far the easiest C-6 back up light switch to work with IMO:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1965-1966-1967- ... 14&vxp=mtr
It was used on so...many different years and models of our fords, and several different companies sell it too.
You can also wire the nuetral safety switch in pretty easily on it if you want.
