I have been toying with the idea of putting in an electric tank selector. My searchs have discovered that the original switch is not a dpdt however I took my spare apart it does appear to be one. It looks like to me that I could use some of the unused connectors to switch tank and sending units at the original switch. I have added some pics of the switch apart. Am I off my rocker here?? Am I missing something??

Not at all. The switch should work fine if it's double pole-double throw, (kinda hard to see in the picture-i do see six terminals which would indicate it's double pole-double throw). You'll still need the electric valve itself. Recommend "dry-testing it on a work bench to verify flow and "holding capability before mounting it all though. Much easier to troubleshoot on the bench if need be.
Our trucks "little brother" the EB had them early on, (my 76' had it from the factory).

my only concern would be putting the amperage needed for an electric valve through a switch that may not be designed to handle it. you could however use the switch to power a relay. I think its a great idea, looking forward to hearing your results.
Sorry its been awile. Just as I was warned the stock switch had some issues. When I put 12 volts to it the entire case would become energized. If I pulled back on the toggle switch it was ok but it wouldn't stay there for long. I ended up getting a new switch and using the trucks switch bezel to make it fit in. I also did used the toggle to power a relay for the tank selector. Works nice on the bench. If it stops raining I'll put it in.
