Can RG-58 Coax Carry 12VDC?

The PO put in a cargo light, and wired it to the inside dome light. I'd like to wire it to a separate switch, but then I need to run another power cable up to it. A previous owner ran a coax cable up, probably for a CB radio. Right now, the coax is jammed in there, and I can't get it out. I either need to pull the coax cable out, and run a two-wire line, or use the existing coax cable. Can I use the coax for running power to the cargo light, or will it not work? Yes, this is a stupid idea, but since the cable is stuck ...

Either that, or how do I un-stuck the coax?

What about adding an original cargo light harness and switch?
As far as the coax cable, I'd be suspicious of any wiring that is stuck, and cannot be visually inspected.

Don't use the co-ax... if it won't pull out in one direction, yank it out the other (and use it to pull in new wire if you can).
