ever changed their gen. for an alternator w/built in v/regulator? If so ..does it work better? My V/reg went out..I think..to much
current going into battery..it smelled like rotten eggs...

Yessiree.... cost me a whopping $47 for the alternator (out of a 96 T-Bird 3.8L non-SC), the megafuse housing, an extra-long battery cable (enough for my Dent too), terminal ends, and heat shrink. I get a whopping 14.6 VDC at idle. Do it.

Been there, done that, got the T shirt. About 25 years ago I changed to a one wire GM alternator with regulator and never looked back. It's also 80 or so amps.
